Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
Those completing a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid will gain the essential skills and knowledge required for providing first aid to children and infants.
This qualification covers a range of relevant topics including the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider, the assessment of an emergency situation, how to place a child in the recovery position, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the provision of first aid to children with (e.g.) external bleeding or a foreign body airway obstruction or to those suffering from burns/ scalds, anaphylaxis or injuries to their bones.
This qualification is typically delivered over two days. Learners’ competence is assessed during training by a combination of practical demonstration and written or verbal questioning.
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is valid for a period of three years. After this period, individuals wishing to retain their status as first aider must re-qualify.
