General Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness E-Learning Course
The aim of the course is to provide employees with sufficient information to enable them to protect themselves, others and the environment from harm.
Who the course is for:
This awareness course is suitable as an induction course for all new employees or as a refresher course for existing employees who need to re-familiarise themselves on the basic principles of protection and good practice.
On completion of the course learners will know how to:
- Perform tasks safely and in compliance with legal requirements
- Identify and report issues and concerns relating to health and safety practices
- Reduce environmental impacts from work activities
- Behave when discovering a fire or hearing the fire alarm.
Duration – 20 – 30 minutes
Content – The course is divided into four interactive modules:
Module 1 – Responsibilities. In this module learners will explore the basic legal duties and responsibilities of employees. They will also learn some basic health and safety terms used in the workplace.
Module 2 – Identifying and controlling hazards. Using a game-based interaction learners will take a virtual journey through a workplace where they will try to identify and fix a wide range of typical workplace hazards. They will also learn about common safety signs and their application at work.
Module 3 – Workplace procedures. This module deals with typical arrangements and procedures at work including emergency actions, first aid, incident reporting and personal protection.
Module 4 – Protecting the environment. In this module learners will discover what makes up the environment and will consider the harmful impacts at work and at home from poor environmental practices and excessive consumption of resources.
During the programme, learners will take part in a fun, game-based hazard spotting activity where credits will be gained or lost based on decisions and knowledge of workplace hazards and controls.
Assessment: Completion of the training programme will unlock a ten question multiple-choice test which when taken and passed will allow you to print off a certificate as proof of completion.
